About Us

About the Adderbury and Milton Feoffee Charity

Adderbury and Milton Feoffee Charity was founded in 1461 after the owners of ‘a tenement with close and parcel of meadow in Mill Mead, Adderbury’ was given to the Charity. Twelve Trustees from the Parishes of Adderbury and Milton were appointed to run the Charity. In the years to come, the Feoffee Charity accumulated more land from the parishioners of Adderbury and Milton. The Trustees used the income from the land with its main aim to support the residents of Adderbury and Milton.

Today, we have 10 Trustees who run the Feoffee and are very much involved in the administration and giving of the Charity. In our Constitution we aid in three main areas and objectives – Educational, Assistance and Ecclesiastical – more on these can be seen in our Giving section.

The Charity supports the local primary school – Christopher Rawlins, which has seen the school acquire new IT equipment and resources, plus help those in need with support for breakfast or after school clubs, school trips and residentials.

The grants are to help those who have lived in the village for a period of three years or more.

Giving

Educational

This fund is available for:

  • School leavers going on to further education or University. Once you have secured a place, your grant will be considered.  The deadline each year is 1st January, and grants will be awarded at the end of February, after the meeting of the Trustees. An application can be made each year that studying is undertaken.
  • Students during the year, to assist towards the cost of the course, learning resources, or any additional needs as required for study. Each application will be assessed individually and confidentially.

Apprenticeship Assistance

Apprenticeships - assistance can be requested on the apprenticeship application form, where you will need to advise the Trustees of the Company you will be working for while doing the apprenticeship; what studying you will be undertaking, how long the course is and what you are hoping to achieve at the end of the apprenticeship.

Assistance Fund

A long-established fund with the Feoffee Charity.  It is there to help when times are hard.  We cover all age groups, young and old, and can offer help to all who have lived in the village for a period of three years or more.

Ecclesiastical Fund

Supporting both St Mary’s Church in Adderbury and St John the Evangelist in Milton as part of our Constitution.

Allotment

The Charity has a number of well-developed allotments on the Wykham Lane in Bodicote, these are rented out to people from the nearby communities to grow their own fruit and vegetables. As part of an ongoing housing development, new allotments will be provided to add to our already successful offering.

A waiting list is held at the Charity office, please apply on the contact form if interested.
